Mazda CX 7 SUV was
built in Japan in late 2006. Yet, this was published first time in 2006’s Los
Angeles Auto Show in January. They start the production at the same year and
mark this series as the first series of mid-size SUV after the Navajo
discontinued its production in 1994. People might be mistaken with the
similarity of this series with the CX-9 series. Yet, the fact is that they even
do not share the same platform. CX 7 uses the front suspension of Mazda MPV
minivan, and it uses the rear suspension system like what used by Mazda5.
This uses 6-speed automatic transmission and uses turbocharged
with 4 engines with Mazdaspeed6 which makes it not efficient in energy. Mazda
CX 7 SUV stops its production on 2012. Mazda, then, change this model
with the newest model called as CX-5. This series has more compact size,
smaller than the CX-7, besides it also uses more efficient power train.
The features of this series are fully independent suspension; this
also has stability control, traction control, and 4-wheel disc brakes with
anti-lock brakes. You can choose whether to use all wheel drive system from
Mazda’s Active torque split or to use the front wheel drive. If you have one
with all wheel drive system, you will the controlled magnetic clutches which
will feed up to 50% of the torque to the rear wheel.
There are several models of Mazda CX 7 SUV people
can find today. In general, the 2010 series has 4 models, the iSV model which
is the base version, the iSport model which is the next version, the sTouring
which is known as the upscale version, and the last is the sGrand Touring as
the top version. It is only the last two models which has all wheel drive
system and 2.3 L turbocharged engine. While, the first two models use 2.5L MZR
with DOHC four-cylinder. The Canadian models also come with 4 models, the GS
Front-Wheel Drive, the GS All-Wheel Drive, the GT Front-Wheel Drive, and the
last is the GT All-Wheel Drive. While, the Australian models are the AWD only,
the classic base trim and the luxury to trim. In UK, the models are two, the
2.3T models with the 2.2D Sport Tech model. There is an update in 2010; there
are changes in its exterior design and interior design feature. Today, we can
still find the diesel version which uses the manual transmission, and still be
sold since 2009.
