and the name was taken from the founder of Detroit, Antoine sieur de Cadillac,
and the design of the crest was based on the design of his coat of arms.
A Short Historical Overview
Cadillac Company had managed to establish itself
worthy to be amongst the premier luxury automakers in America by the time GM
Company purchased it back in 1909. As its precision parts have full
interchangeability, the products of Cadillac managed to lay down to very basic
foundation of the modern automobiles’ mass productions. It was at its peak of technological
improvement and advances, introducing features such as the non-clashing manual
transmission, complete electrical systems, as well as its inclusion of steel
roof.
A Short Overview of Its Founding
As explained earlier,
Cadillac automaker was established from Henry Ford Company’s remnants after
several disputes between investors and Henry Ford himself. The result of the
dispute led Henry Ford to leave the company along with his several key partners
in business in the March of 1902. After he left, the parts and the equipment
was meant to be liquidated as part of the assets of the company, however, the
business was then continued by Henry M. Leland who was an engineer by using his
single-cylinder engine and parts gained from the previous Henry Ford Company.
The business continues to grow until he become GM Cadillac Canada (read another Cadillac) we all know today.
