The name of Pontiac itself was taken from an American Indian Chief, Pontiac who had big role in the Pontiac rebellion, 1760s. In the 1906 by Pontiac Spring and Wagon Works, the name was first used. And then, in November 1908, a merger happened between Pontiac Spring and Wagon Works with the company of Oakland Motor. The first logo was the headdress of American Indian which clearly related to Chief Pontiac. The logo was used until 1956. The logo then being updated with red arrowhead in 1957. The Arrowhead is currently called the dart. With bright red color, this logo can be easily seen with silver star in its center. This can be assumed as symbols of nature, since most Native American arts contain many nature’s elements, such as stars, moon and sun.
